                                     Lightning Arrester (Spda)

Technically known as (SPDA) - Discharge Protection System

In atmospheric conditions, lightning rods are essential in building, commercial and industrial installations, protecting them against structural damage to property and electrical and electronic equipment in the building.

This system, when properly installed, creates an alternative path for atmospheric discharge, (Radio) diverting it to the ground, through pickups and descent cables or metal tapes, properly sized according to the need of the building and project developed by the engineer .

We have a team specialized in the installation and maintenance of lightning rods, ensuring the perfect functioning of the system.

It is essential that this type of service is carried out by properly qualified professionals, complying with the technical standard NBR 5419,

which regulates the practice of installation and maintenance of lightning protection systems (SPDA).

This standard provides for the installation of two types of lightning rod systems, the

"Franklin", and the "Faraday Cage" system.

In buildings over 20 meters high, it is recommended to install both systems, which will work together, ensuring total protection and efficiency of the system.

          Understanding installation and operation

Basically, the system developed in engineering design follows the following steps:

* Capture system: This system must evaluate everything that is on the building to be protected and that could attract lightning.

Based on this data, mapping and budgeting are made to identify the type of equipment necessary for such execution.

* Descent system: At this point, it is decided how the discharge capture system will be installed, which can be used, receivers every 15 or 20 meters apart.

Depending on the type of building, the specific type of protection suitable for such e.g.:

schools, companies, condominiums, churches, etc.

* Grounding System: After analyzing and discovering the way the system descends, it is time to develop one of the fundamental points for its operation: the grounding system.

The system consists of identifying the type of soil to be worked and the appropriate installation of grounding rods together with inspection boxes, thus enabling periodic maintenance of the system.

The grounding system must be created using a mesh using copper rods connected in series and interconnected with bare copper cables, complying with the minimum impedance of their sizing.

          Lightning Arrester System Maintenance (spda)

Every Lightning Arrester System (SPDA), as well as electrical grounding, requires

periodically undergo thorough prior evaluation and testing, ensuring that it continues to function efficiently.

This periodic inspection is necessary due to the fact that the system, over time, suffers corrosion and oxidation in its metallic parts and connections, thus compromising its effective functioning and increasing

electrical resistance, thus making it difficult for the discharge to enter the ground.

At the end of each inspection, a technical report must be issued, proving the analysis of the system.
